***All tryouts will be at Walkersville Middle School***

Players must be registered online in order to participate.

Due to limited space, tryouts will be closed to coaches and players only, and parents are asked to drop off and return.

GVAA Intramural & Travel Basketball

GVAA offers both Intramural and Travel Team opportunities.  For younger athletes (Grades K-2) we provide a weekly instructional clinic.  Intramural (Grades 3-12) teams compete in the Metroball Youth Basketball Association (MYBA) and play both home and away games against other area recreation programs, as well as GVAA teams.  Travel Teams (Grades 6-8) compete in the Mid-Maryland Basketball League and play against teams affiliated along Middle School draw areas.

Registration Information

Fees for the upcoming year are listed below:

Intramural  $145
Travel $145 plus additional $90 (after player has made the team)
K-2 Clinic $75

When available, click on "Register to Play" to sign up for the appropriate division for your child(ren).
This for should be used for Travel, Intramural, and Clinic.

If your athlete is selected for the travel team the additional fee ($90) will be due at a later date.

We sponsor four teams (Boys' and Girls' Varsity and JV) in the Mid-Maryland Youth Basketball League. These are competitive teams selected only through tryouts.

Travel Team tryouts for both boys and girls will be held in October at Walkersville Middle School. Practice will begin immediately after team selection. Regular season games will begin in December and run through mid-March.

An additional fee must be paid upon selection to a travel team. The total fee for the Travel team is $235 ($145 at registration, $90 payable after selection to the team).

The same academic eligibility requirements that must be met at the high school level also apply to travel teams. There is no guarantee of playing time for those selected for travel teams.

Intramural teams are grouped by grade (3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th, 9th/10th, 11th/12th) for both girls and boys. The league will offer one age group for High School girls (9th-12th).

Practices for all Intramural teams will begin November 12th. Regular season games will begin in January.

We rely on parents to participate to make our basketball program successful.

The fee for all intramural age groups is $145, which includes a team jersey.

K-2 Clinic Information

We offer an 8-week clinic program for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders. During these sessions, young athletes will receive instruction on all fundamental aspects of the game and, near the end of the program, participate in game situations. The Clinic will begin the first week of January and run through February.

Clinic fee is $75.
